As this year winds to a close, I find myself reflecting on its moments of beauty, heartache, and resilience. It’s been a year that changed me, humbled me, and reminded me of the boundless blessings that surround us—even in the hardest of times. It brought me to my knees, tested my faith, and reminded me of the unfailing grace of God.
This time last year, my life felt stable. My wife and I were busy planning, dreaming, and moving forward together, as we always do. But then, life threw us an unexpected curveball: a medical emergency that stopped us in our tracks. The days that followed were some of the hardest of my life. Sitting by her side, watching her fight for her life, I felt utterly helpless. The only thing I could do was pray.
Watching someone you love face a life-threatening situation is a pain I hope no one ever endures, yet many do. In those moments, fear becomes your constant companion. I didn’t know what the future held. I didn’t know if I’d have to face it without her. Every beeping monitor, every hushed conversation with doctors, and every sleepless night left me feeling powerless.
In those moments of fear, I cried out to the Lord, begging Him for healing, for strength, for guidance. I had to surrender my worries to Him because there was nothing I could control. I had to trust that His plan, even in the midst of this storm, was greater than my understanding.
And God answered.
Amidst the chaos, miracles began to unfold. My wife fought with a strength I never knew she had, her resilience shining through even on the hardest days. And while she did the physical fighting, I had an army of angels surrounding me—our family, friends, and even strangers who became supporters in our darkest hour.
He gave my wife the courage and the resilience to fight. He surrounded us with skilled doctors and nurses who became His hands and feet in her care. He filled me with a peace I couldn’t explain and sent us reminders of His presence in unexpected ways—an encouraging text, a quiet moment of calm, a verse that seemed to speak directly to my heart.
But His blessings didn’t stop there. During this challenging season, I also witnessed His grace in the form of the people around us.
Being self-employed often means the pressure to deliver never lets up. Deadlines, expectations, and responsibilities can feel relentless. But when I shared the truth about what my wife and I were facing, my clients met me with something extraordinary: grace.
They didn’t just understand; they encouraged me to take the time I needed. They prayed for my family. They gave me space to focus on my wife without fear of judgment or consequences. Their kindness and patience were gifts I will never forget.
Through it all, God continued to show me that His grace is sufficient, even when my strength is not. He reminded me to lean on Him, to let go of my fear, and to trust that He would provide. And He did.
Today, as I look at my wife, healthy and recovering, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I’m thankful for her courage and determination, for the prayers and support of so many, and for the unwavering love of a God who walks with us through every valley.
This year taught me that life is fragile, but it is also full of miracles. It taught me to be humble, to accept help, and to see the goodness in others. Above all, it reminded me that no matter what happens, we are never alone.
To everyone who prayed for us, encouraged us, and walked with us on this journey—thank you. To my wife, who inspires me daily with her strength, I love you more than words can say. And to the Lord, who never let us go, I give all the glory.
As I reflect on this year, I am filled with gratitude for the trials that strengthened my faith, the grace that sustained me, and the love that continues to surround me. Here’s to the promise of a new year, held firmly in God’s hands.
Happy Thanksgiving to You and Your Family!
